Australian National Chemical Analysis Competition

On Saturday 12th May our Senior Chemistry students represented Chisholm at the prestigious Australian National Chemical Analysis Competition held at the University of Queensland, St Lucia Campus.

Chisholm had 3 teams compete in the competition. The task of each member of the team was to perform a complex acid-base titration experiment. A sodium hydroxide was standardised against standard hydrochloric acid. An “unknown” acetic solution was then titrated with the sodium hydroxide solution. Judging was on the basis of the values obtained by team members they reported on the acetic acid concentration.

Our students performed exceptionally well and we look forward to receiving the official results to be announced in August.
