Gold at Sweet 16 Junior Basketball Championship

On 17th-20th October Chisholm sent two teams to compete at the Sweet 16 Junior Basketball Championships. This competition goes for four full days and hosts all the major basketball schools from all of South East Queensland. Chisholm entered an U16 boys and U16 girls team into division 1.

The girls team had some massive wins throughout the competition and a few tough losses. They ended up losing in the bronze medal game in a close game to finish 4th in the division 1 girls category. This is a massive achievement for the girls who were in division 2 last year and trained hard all year to improve and make it all way to top 4 of the entire competition this year. Josephine Sebasio was also named in the competition All-Star 5 which means she was selected as one of the 5 best players in the division 1 girls category.

The boys team have been training hard all year together and were confident going into this competition. Our goal from day one was go get the gold medal and that is exactly what we did! The boys went completely undefeated the whole 4 days and finished the competition with a record of 7-0. They made it all the way to grand final and ended up winning by 34 points to easy secure the gold medal! Not only did we receive the gold but Javarne Hunt our captain of the boys team was award some amazing induvial honours. Javarne finished as the top scorer for the entire competition averaging 29.1 points per game, he was named in the All-Star 5 for the division 1 boys category and not only that but he was also named the MVP for the tournament. The boys impressed a lot of people over the 4 days and made a very clear statement to everyone that we are the best U16's team in South East Queensland.
Congrutulations to both Josephine and Javarne on their amazing individual achievements and both Chisholm teams on their success in this competition. It shows the clear strength the Chisholm Basketball academy has right now for us to have both our boys and girls teams finish in the top 4 for division one for this age group!

Both teams will head to Melbourne at the end of the year to compete at the Australian School championships with the boys team qualifying for division 1 and will be competing for an U17's National championship!

Exciting times for Chisholm Basketball!
