Rugby League

The Chisholm Catholic College Rugby League program is designed to provide students with skills, knowledge and a functional understanding of the game which allows them to excel in their sporting, personal and academic growth. The philosophy of the Rugby League program is to maximise participation, comradery and enjoyment of the game, as coaches work closely with developing students.

The Rugby League Program is led by Mr Tom Philpot, who has been coaching school Rugby League teams in Townsville, Brisbane and Logan for eight years. He has played a mixture of school and club Rugby League, as well as representative level Rugby Union, over a period spanning more than two decades. Also working with the program is Mr Andy Poynter, who has played at numerous clubs in England and Australia at both professional and semi-professional level. He has worked as a coach with Pacific District School Sport & South Coast Region School Sport, with a range of age groups, as well as the College Open Team in the Confraternity Shield.

The SEDA Rugby League teams participate in a range of competitions, including:

  • Pacific District Rivers Championships Days
  • Confraternity Shield
  • Titans Cup
  • Titans 9’s
